$80bn of new investor capital to hedge funds in 2012, says Barclays

A survey of 165 investors by Barclays Capital has found that investors are likely to reallocate $300 billion of existing hedge fund assets within and across hedge fund strategies on top of $80 billion of new assets expected to flow into hedge funds over the next 12 months.

The survey is comprised of investors with a total of $4 trillion in assets under management, with approximately $500 billion of that already allocated to hedge funds. Roughly 56% of this group told Barclays that they planned on increasing their hedge fund allocations. Endowments, foundations, private banks and public pensions
