Ginga Explorer fund delivers despite volatile environment

The Japanese long/short equity Ginga Explorer Fund is seeing significant interest and flows from investors inside and outside Japan after delivering a year-to-date return of 9.05% through the end of December.

The fund, which has an investment capacity of about $140 million, was launched in July 2010 with $10 million seed capital and now has grown to $18 million. In late November 2011, the firm had a gross exposure of 120% and net exposure of 40%, and its long positions were mostly focused on Japanese domestic consumer stocks.
