Tairen Greater China delivers strong 2011 performance

by

The long/short Greater China-focused Tairen China fund delivered a 60% return in 2011, providing one of the more notable ‘outlier’ performances among Asia-based funds during a very difficult period.

The fund, which was established by veteran manager Larry Chen in May 2007, has attracted $200 million of assets under management as of end December.

The big double-digit performance is a significant jump from the 0.7% return in 2010 and 3.9% return in 2009, when Chen decided to leave the company and handed management to his co-partner in the firm, Terry Zhang, who early last year left the company.
