Changjiang China fund secures $50m anchor investment

China-based Changjiang Asset Management (HK) is launching a long/short Greater China equity fund in March after securing $50 million seed money from a private equity fund and also from Japanese and mainland China investors.

The China-based Hong Kong company is wholly owned by Changjiang Securities Co, which is an A-share listed Hubei-based securities firm in mainland China managing over Rmb 30 billion in assets.

The HK asset management arm was recently granted a Type 4 and Type 9 license by Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission and hopes to scale the size of the fund to $1 billion
