Managers focused on markets outside Japan delivered the strongest performance among long/short funds in February but the overall median return for Asian long/short managers remained sub-par against the relevant index.
Asia ex-Japan funds notched a median return of 5.81% in February bringing year-to-date returns to 11.89% for this specific group.
Only India-focused managers did better with a year-to-date return of 16.69% after posting 4.17% and 12.02% gains in February and January, respectively. Bombay’s Sensex, in comparison, only climbed 3.25% last month, bringing its year-to-date return to 14.87%.
