Segalen boutique goes live with relative-value energy strategy

by

Segalen Environment Partners, a London boutique established in 2010 by two seasoned energy traders, has gone live with its first pooled hedge fund, the relative-value Energy Commodities Market Fund (ECMF).

The fund has launched with some €5 million from partners, friends and family. It invests exclusively in European energy and environmental derivatives, with no direct exposure to equities, bonds or sovereign debt.

The firm is led by Laurent Segalen, former head of global carbon and uranium trading at Nomura, and Coos Battjes, who structured and marketed carbon emission-related products at Credit Suisse and later ran his own consultancy.
