UK’s Dorset County Council Pension Fund banks on Barings

Dorset County Council Pension Fund in the UK has selected Barings to run a diversified alternatives mandate worth around $112 million.

The $2.2 billion pension fund had been waiting to finish the process of appointing the diversified alternatives manager before conducting a review of its hedge fund investments, given that there might be some overlap between the two.

With Barings now in place, the scheme will set about examining the performance of incumbent fund of fund managers Gottex Fund Management and International Asset Management. The fund redeemed from Pioneer Alternative Investments because of its investments in Madoff.
