UCITS key priority for European regulator

The introduction of new and the overhaul of existing legislation, including UCITS, will be a key challenge for European Securities and Markets Authority this year, according to Verena Ross, its executive director.

The authority will publish the results of its consultation into UCITS issues by June, she said at a speech made to the think tank Centre Forum in London.

Ross said: “ESMA will work on establishing harmonised binding implementing measures in different areas such as: OTC derivatives (European Market Infrastructure Regulation), investment funds (UCITS), alternative fund managers (Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive) and issuers (Prospectus directive).”
