Ex-HSBC fund manager Richard Wong has ‘soft launched’ a long/short China equity fund that began trading on June 1.
It is the first hedge fund to be launched out of the BOCI-Prudential Asset Management platform, which is a Hong Kong-based joint venture between BOCI Asset Management Limited and Prudential Corporation Holdings Limited.
It is understood that Wong is looking to first establish a track record for the fund before ‘hard launching’ in six months time.
Wong was part of HSBC’s Asia ex-Japan equity team and had overall responsibility for investments in the Chinese equity market.
