North Yorkshire considers hedge fund foray


The $2.3 billion North Yorkshire Local Authority Pension Fund (NYPF) is considering making a first investment in hedge funds.

Members of theUK scheme’s pension fund committee met in late June for a strategy workshop to consider the suitability of hedge funds and/or diversified growth funds for inclusion in the scheme’s portfolio.

Last month’s meeting follows scrutiny of hedge funds as an asset class in a February 2012 workshop, which was then followed by an informal meeting with officers and the fund’s investment consultant to consider hedge funds in more detail.
