Ex-HSBC manager soft-launches China fund

Ex-HSBC fund manager Richard Wong has soft-launched a long/short China equity fund, which began trading on 1 June.

It is the first hedge fund to be launched out of the BOCI-Prudential Asset Management platform, a Hong Kong-based joint venture between BOCI Asset Management and Prudential Corporation Holdings.

It is understood that Wong is looking to first establish a track record for the fund before hard-launching in six months’ time.

Wong was part of HSBC’s Asia ex-Japan equity team and had overall responsibility for investments in the Chinese equity market.
