Reservoir Capital is in advanced discussions to seed ex-Goldman Sachs executive Buckley “Buck” Ratchford with between $200 million and $250 million for his upcoming new hedge fund launch, according to three people close to the negotiations.

Ratchford was until last fall head of global bank loan trading and distressed investing at Goldman Sachs, where he was a partner and managing director. He plans to begin trading in the fourth quarter or early next year with a yet-unnamed fund focused on long/short credit plays in the distressed arena, as well as traditional event-driven strategies, sources
