Hong Kong-based Arena Capital, the hedge fund vehicle of ex-Highbridge Capital portfolio manager Toby Douglas Bartlett, is launching next month. The new market-neutral long/short fund will focus mostly on the Japanese equity market.
Bartlett worked for three years at Highbridge before he left in December last year, and prior to that at Citadel Investment Japan where he managed a portfolio focused on Japanese companies.
At Highbridge, he had worked with star trader Carl Huttenlocher, who after leaving the firm in 2011 founded Myriad Asset Management, one of the biggest hedge fund launches that year.
