Market-neutral and quantitative funds finish up with modest monthly gains


December produced generally muted returns for equity market-neutral and quantitative strategies, with some posting small losses. For the year as a whole, though, most quant funds made decent progress.

OxAM Quant led the way on a full-year basis with a 25.92% return, although it lost 0.77% in December. HSBC European Alpha made 21.93% with its 2.5x Levered version, despite losing 1.02% in December (with the unlevered fund up 7.36% and down 45 basis points respectively).
