IAM favours equity, credit and event driven managers


International Asset Management, which has $2.8 billion in hedge funds, believes that event driven, long/short equity and credit have a positive return outlook in 2011 with medium risk.

For long/short equity, Morten Spenner, chief executive officer, says that the Asian and emerging markets continue to offer the highest secular growth opportunities while the US economy remains at the head of the recovery among the developed world.

Within the credit world, Spenner notes that the large volume of debt maturing after 2011 should provide managers with interesting potential trades. IAM currently favours manager with a long/short approach to credit
