Paulson makes Asia foray with new Hong Kong office


John Paulson has set up a Hong Kong office, which recently gained a Type 1 license from the city’s Securities and Futures Commission to deal in securities.

The team at Paulson Asia includes former Hong Kong-based Morgan Stanley executives Xiaoli Deng, who served as an analyst at the bank, and Sandra Lee, who has been part of Paulson & Co’s investor relations team since 2008.

New York-headquartered Paulson & Co, which has $36 billion in AUM, made huge returns during the financial crisis with its famous short on sub-prime mortgages in the US and has continued to perform well
