Mazzocco becomes USC’s first CIO

Lisa Mazzocco joins the University of Southern California (USC) as its first chief investment officer on 18 April.

Previously, Mazzocco was chief investment officer of the Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association (LACERA). She has been at LACERA since 1992 and is responsible for the asset allocation of the $31 billion pension fund. During her tenure, she established a new strategy for the private equity portfolio and led a team to develop a new fixed-income structure, thereby creating an opportunistic investment category.
