Matthew Mullarkey is joining Aksia after serving as an investment officer at the $141 billion New York State Common Retirement Fund. He comes in following the pension fund’s decision to replace the hedge fund consulting firm with Albourne Partners.
Aksia was hired in 2008 and had a three-year contract that ran through March. Shortly after Aksia began working with New York State, the pension fund announced allocations of $500 million to hedge funds with add-on allocations to Clarium Capital, GLG Emerging Currency & Fixed-Income Fund, Paulson Advantage Plus, Whitebox Hedged High Yield and Xerion Fund.
