UK’s Camden goes ahead with $74m hedge fund mandate

Camden Council Pension Fund will become the latest London borough to invest in hedge funds, as it moves ahead with a 5% allocation.

The $1.6 billion pension fund has been considering the asset class, in the context of alternative investments as a whole, for some time. At a recent meeting it received presentations from a number of investment consultants, academics and Fauchier Partners on the possibilities offered by alternatives. The conclusion of the pensions committee was that hedge funds could offer capital preservation and low volatility, and it will look to issue a mandate worth around $74 million.
