Emerging market and alternative searches rise, says Mercer


Globally, manager search activity increased in 2010 as institutional investors looked to diversify their portfolios by pursuing opportunities in emerging market and alternative asset classes, according to data gathered by investment consultant Mercer.

In its 2010 Global Manager Search Trends report, the firm outlines the search activity of its global clients. Mercer advised on 940 searches last year globally, totalling $95.6 billion in assets placed by 361 institutional investors. The searches ran higher across a range of alternative asset classes with interest in property, infrastructure, commodities andmulti-strategy hedge funds. A total of 31 searches were done by Mercer
