Man-Nomura Global Trend fund raises $1.5 billion in tough climate

Man Group has raised $1.5 billion from Japanese investors for the Nomura Global Trend Fund, the first onshore Japanese fund launched by Man’s AHL unit and the biggest hedge fund launch by the UK-based group since the global financial crisis.

The exercise came less than two months after the devastating earthquake and a subsequent tsunami struck the northern part of Japan, showing the still strong climate for hedge fund asset raising there.
