Principia Capital vehicle obtains Hong Kong licence


Hong Kong has thrown the doors wide open for Principia Capital’s plan to launch a CTA strategy with assets expected to reach some $750 million when it launches this year, with the regulator approving the licence for the group’s vehicle, PCA Investments Hong Kong.

The firm counts as its principal officers a former Merrill Lynch trader and a well-connected Beijing-based executive, who is reportedly backed by powerful interests in Beijing.

Beijing-based Hang Hu and ex-Merrill Lynch (Asia Pacific) executive Lau Fu Wing are behind Principia Capital Advisors (PCA), which was reported to be preparing a CTA fund launch
