Hong Kong regulator gets new CEO


Well known lawyer Ashley Alder has been appointed chief executive officer of Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) for a three-year term starting October.

The head of Asian operations at international law firm Herbert Smith is actually rejoining the regulatory body where he worked for three years previously from 2001 to 2004 as executive director for its corporate finance division.

As a senior partner of Herbert Smith and head of its Asian division, he specialised in areas of capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, regulation and compliance.
