HK regulator appoints new CEO


Ashley Alder
Well-known lawyer Ashley Alder has been appointed chief executive officer of Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) for a three-year term starting in October.

The head of Asian operations at international law firm Herbert Smith previously worked at the regulatory body from 2001 to 2004 as executive director for its corporate finance division.

At Herbert Smith, Alder specialised in areas of capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, regulation and compliance.
