Japan prevails as global markets buckle in savage month

by

Asian long/short equity funds sustained even more losses in September as market volatility continued to derail performance in a cogent repeat of what happened the previous month.

The worst hit proved to be those investing outside Japan, with their median losses reaching 10.29% for the month based on AsiaHedge calculations.

That already counts as among the worst retreat this year for this particular set of managers, and mirrored the 14.83% slide of the relevant index, the MSCI Pacific Free Net ex-Japan Index, during the month.

The overall picture, however was not as dispiriting.
