UK retailer M&S plans 5% allocation for first foray into hedge funds


The pension fund of UK retailer Marks & Spencer is understood to be considering an allocation of up to 5% of its $8.93 billion pension fund to hedge funds.

It is unclear at this stage whether the fund will take the direct route or look to funds of hedge funds, although the latter seems more likely given the scheme's relative lack of experience with the asset class.
