MAM mulls taking in external investors

MAM, the Singapore-based family office that has largely been managing money for Japanese families, has set up an internal proprietary hedge fund and is considering opening up some of the strategies it runs to external investors selectively. It will most likely start with a Japan-focused event driven strategy that it has built an outstanding track record in, and is targeting to raise about $100 million in it over the next year.

According to Gen Kato, managing director at MAM, the firm historically invested in various asset classes including private equity, hedge funds, real estate, and various other assets.
