Vega back with good start after stellar 2009


Vega Asset Management, the $400 million Madrid and Cayman-based group headed by Ravi Mehra and Jesus Sa'a Requejo that was the biggest hedge fund in the world a few years ago, returns to our performance tables this month with a string of good performances in January following the firm's excellent performance in 2009.

Vega Select Opportunities, which now manages around $100 million, scored a punchy 10% gain in January - coming on top of its stellar return of 93.85% last year - while the Vega Global flagship was up by 1.79% after a gain of 62.34% in 2009.

The firm's
