Fixed income thrives in a flat month


The new year has started in negative territory for a number of strategies and January turned out to be a flat month, with the InvestHedge Composite down 0.23%.

The only strategy that excelled in January was fixed income, as Greece's debt situation, among other things, caused capital flight to safety. As the global equity indices fell, the fixed-income markets benefited, pushing the JP Morgan Global Government Bond Index up 0.5%, and the InvestHedge Fixed Income Composite ended up 1.15% for the month.
