Korea Investment Corporation (KIC), the sovereign wealth fund with assets of around $30 billion, will look to increase its alternatives allocation this year.
KIC's alternatives portfolio accounts for 5% of assets, including private equity, real estate, hedge funds and commodities.
This allocation may rise to 10% over 2010, although it is unclear whether this will involve further hedge fund investments.
At present the fund's hedge fund portfolio is thought to consist of four direct investments and an allocation to a fund of funds. The fund began investing in the asset class in 2009.
