As worries about Greece and mixed economic data weighed on the markets it was a tricky month for hedge funds across all strategies. The weaker countries in the Eurozone, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece and Spain - collectively known as PIIGS - were particularly hit.
That said, the weakness of the Eurozone has brought with it volatility that, in turn, brings opportunity, especially in global macro trading and fundamental equity investing. The Global Multi-Strategy median was up 0.17% in February, leaving year-to-date returns at 0.19%.
