The global equity markets strengthened in March, on the back of improved economic data and signs that investors were becoming more positive. No surprise, then, that it was also a generally strong month for global equity hedge funds.
Strategies managed by Abbey Capital, Carnegie Asset Management, Lansdowne Partners and Jabre Capital Partners were among the top performers.
Abbey Global led the way on the month, with the fund making 8.50%. The Carnegie WorldWide Long/Short Fund returned 7.70% in March, giving it a solid 8.56% for the year to date. Lansdowne Global Financials rebounded after two down months in January
