The pension fund of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, in London, is considering a debut investment in alternatives, although it is uncertain at this early stage whether any potential allocation will go ahead.

A meeting last month saw the trustees briefed on the merits and potential pitfalls of a number of alternative asset classes, including hedge funds, GTAA, diversified growth funds, emerging market debt, high yield debt and active currency management.
