Australian superfunds raising allocations to hedge funds, AIMA says


Australia's largest pension funds are expected to invest about A$600 million ($526 million) into hedge funds in the next two years, with a noticeable shift in capital from fund of funds to individual funds, according to the Hedge Fund Survey of Australian Superfunds by the University of New South Wales, which was sponsored by Australian chapter of the Alternative Investment Management Association.

The average allocation to hedge funds has increased to 3% this year, up from 2.5% in 2008, and is expected to grow further to an average of 3.6% in the next two years, the survey says. Allocations
