Azzy Fund weathers a tough year in Japan


The Azzy Fund, a Japan-focused event-driven strategy, gained 1.40% for the month and is up 14.35% year to date.

This year has been quite tough so far due to the strengthening of the yen, but on the other hand, there have been plenty of deals, bringing opportunities for the fund to accumulate returns, says fund manager Akira Azuma. The fund also has two more strategies: directional trades with index futures; and options and long/short equity. Both books have also made a modest contribution to returns.
