Kairos gives hedge funds seed money to go onshore


Kairos Capital has been giving managers of traditional offshore hedge fund seeding money to start their own UCITS funds.

The Milan-based firm was the first hedge fund of funds manager to launch a UCITS-only product in May 2009. The multi-strategy fund is down 0.47% this year to September and last year was up 6.35%.

Michele Gesualdi, fund manager at Kairos Capital, says it now has about $400 million in its UCITS products, but in total invests about $600 million to $700 million in absolute return funds.
