Virginia Retirement continues CIO search to replace Grant

The $48 billion Virginia Retirement System is still seeking a new chief investment officer following the departure of Charles Grant in September.

Grant had joined the system in 1995 and became CIO in 2005. He said the reason for stepping down was due purely to family reasons and a desire to spend more time with them. During Grant’s tenure at VRS, the portfolio saw the growth of credit strategies as an asset class and strategy and the establishment of a global equity benchmark for public equities and substantial development of internal research and risk management programmes.
