UK private equity specialist Sovereign Capital has acquired regulatory compliance consulting and business support firm IMS Group. The majority investment will enable IMS to accelerate its growth plans as the regulatory challenges faced by investment management firms become more complex.
Sovereign has augmented the IMS management team with the appointments of Michel van Leeuwen as group CEO and Tony Solway as chairman. Van Leeuwen was previously managing director of worldwide capital markets at Microsoft, while Solway was CEO at BNP Paribas Securities Services. IMS founder Scott Wilson will remain onboard as non-executive director.
