Everest sees peak

With the emerging markets winds lifting its sails, equity-focused Everest Capital Frontier closed October on course to post one of its best annual showings since the fund was launched in 1995. It surged 7.7% in October and is now up a spectacular 50.3% for the year.

Meanwhile, credit quality of emerging market debt increased with upgrades outpacing downgrades for the first time in nearly four years and helped the Van Eck Global Opportunity fund pick up 0.4% for the month, leaving returns up a hefty 17.3% for the year. Ellington Emerging Markets Fund rose about 8.1% year-to-date.
