Carlson snags rival Ranger analyst

by

Dallas-based Carlson Capital has lured away Heather Gilker, an analyst from Ranger Capital. Gilker will be an analyst in the $4.3 billion hedge fund manager's fund of funds division, which manages $60 million in assets. She will report to Mike Weinberg.

Carlson Capital runs the Black Diamond family of arbitrage hedge funds. Last year, Ranger founder Sam Wyly roped in a pair of Carlson executives for a new merger arbitrage fund.
