Sami Karam, a former equity manager at Soros Fund Management, has formed New York-based Seven Global Research, and plans to launch a new global equity fund in late spring. The fund will employ a bottom-up strategy and will invest across all regions and sectors with large weightings in Europe and Asia.
Prior to Soros, Karam ran a European fund called Objective Partners from 2000-2002, returning 13% despite running a net long position in a fierce bear market. Before that he worked at Kingdon Capital. He is understood to be starting with close to $200 million.
