Eifuku man is plotting a comeback


The portfolio manager behind the ill-fated Japan-focused fund Eifuku is believed to be testing the waters for a new hedge fund. John Koonmen is apparently putting together a new relative value equity portfolio that will trade a global portfolio that would include the Asian markets, the manager's specialty.

The nascent fund, still in its formative stages, is likely to be based in Hawaii, according to family office investors.
