Survey: more hedge funds registering with SEC


The number of hedge fund groups voluntarily registering with the Securities and Exchange Commission jumped by 15% over the last year, according to a recently released study by the Investment Counsel Institute of America and Thomson Financial's National Regulatory Services.

The survey found that voluntary registration outpaced the overall growth of new filings for registered investment advisers, which rose by a lesser rate of 5.7% over the same 12-month period ending in April.
