Crecera gears up with bank aid


Crecera Finance Company, a newly established investment fund specializing in short-term trade finance in Latin America, is turning to an unusual source for the leverage on its portfolio in the shape of the Inter-American Development Bank, a World Bank-style organization with a mission to provide financing for economic and social development in Latin America.

Effectively, the Washington, D.C.-based bank is looking to fill the role normally played by the prime broker by advancing a $15 million loan to Crecera which will enable the fund to leverage its portfolio by 2:1. The Netherlands Development Finance Company
