Former SEC staffer leaves Citadel


After only a few months, Mary Keefe, the former chief of the Securities and Exchange Commission's 200-member Midwest office, has left her post as head of global compliance at Ken Griffin's Citadel Investments.

When Citadel hired Keefe late last year, the $10 billion Chicago multi-arbitrage firm touted her new role and salutary credentials as evidence of both Citadel's commitment to regulatory compliance and its intent to set an example for industry "best practices," or self-regulation.

She reported to Citadel general counsel Adam Cooper, who since last November has been chairman of the Managed Funds Association, the industry's most powerful lobby
