Mullins becomes chief economist for Vega


David Mullins, the former vice chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve Board, is the latest big name to join the fast-expanding team at Vega, the large New York and Madrid-based global macro group headed by Ravi Mehra.

Mullins, who was also previously a founding partner with Long-Term Capital Management, has been active most recently with the Azimuth Trust fund of funds business. He is now to take on a role as chief economist for the Vega, while also remaining active with Azimuth, where he will continue to commit the majority of his time. Azimuth currently runs about $400 million
