CBOT boosts gold and silver futures offerings


Amid a huge spike in demand for silver and gold futures from hedge funds, commodity trading advisors and other precious metals speculators, the Chicago Board of Trade will soon begin trading much larger gold and futures contracts over its Internet platform.

The CBOT has traded metal futures for nearly four decades, and currently allows buyers to invest in so-called mini contracts on 1,000 ounces of silver and 33.2 ounces of gold.
