Global markets watchdog to examine hedge fund industry


The international body founded to promote stability of the international financial markets in the wake of Long Term Capital Management's failure is expected to commission its first study of the hedge fund industry since the group was formed in 1999.

The Financial Stability Forum will announce later today the study as well as the outcome of other discussions at its 12th meeting, held in Washington, D.C. on September 8 and 9.
