GLG and Lehman discuss closer ties


GLG Partners, the London-based hedge fund group headed by Noam Gottesman, Pierre Lagrange and Philippe Jabre, is in discussions with Lehman Brothers, which could result in the US investment bank increasing its stake in the firm - though it is unlikely, it seems, that this would result in a full-scale sale of GLG.

A flurry of speculation about possible changes was started today when the Wall Street Journal reported today that Lehman "is negotiating" to buy GLG, although the report also stressed that such a deal is far from certain.
