Kingdon Capital Management has named Alan Winters to the newly created post of chief operating officer to oversee all financial and administrative functions at the New York-based long/short equity firm, which manages about $3 billion.
Winters will also oversee risk management, investor relations and human resources. The move is a promotion for Winters, who re-joined Kingdon in 2002 after an extended sabbatical. He started at the firm in 1986 as its second investment professional and served as portfolio manager and chief investment officer through 1997. During that period, Kingdon's assets grew from $10 million to over $2 billion.
